What does the checklist check for you?
The steps run in work order, from "Google is allowed in" to the habits that never come off the list. Some tick themselves from your own account: Search Console and Analytics connected, a key event measured, the first audit finished, your Business Profile linked, your name, address and phone confirmed. The rest come with the how-to and a box to tick, including the ones only you can confirm, like testing the site with a phone in your hand.
Why it asks about things it can't check
Those are the items that get skipped. A checklist that left them out would be lying about what "done" means.
Every open item has a next step
"What to do next" lists the open items in work order and links each one to the card that works it. The connections make every other tool work, and the website audit feeds every fix list: 29 checks, 21 of which write the fix. When a step needs a Pro tool, the card says so.

- Can I run it before my site is public?
- Yes, and that's the best time. A staging address works. The first check runs on its own: we fetch the homepage and robots.txt and look for a leftover noindex or a robots.txt that blocks everything, the most common launch failure there is. If it fails, it sits above everything else on the list.
- My site has been live for years. Is this still for me?
- Yes. A site that has been live for years uses it to find what was never set up, which is usually why a tool further down has nothing to show. There's also a tab for the site that launched and went nowhere: it works through the causes of invisibility in order of likelihood.
- How is this different from the website audit?
- The audit is a crawler: it reads the pages that exist and writes fixes for them. The checklist covers what a crawl can't see, like whether anyone connected Search Console or measures a key event, and it runs the audit as one of its steps.
- Does finishing the checklist rank my site?
- No. It removes the self-inflicted reasons a site can't rank and makes sure the data every other tool reads is flowing from day one, because you can't collect historical data later. Results build over months, not days.
