A page started slipping. Find out why, not just that.
When a page begins losing visitors, the Traffic Drop Doctor works out what happened to that page and gives you the fix aimed at recovering it. One page, one diagnosis, one thing to do next.
Included with Pro, along with every tool that ships after it.
Five reasons a page slips, and they want different answers
The reason guessing is expensive is that the fixes point in opposite directions. Rewriting a page that lost nothing but a seasonal spike is a wasted week; waiting out a drop you caused yourself is a wasted quarter.
Something you changed
A redesign, a rewrite, a plugin, a redirect that went somewhere unhelpful. The most common cause, and the easiest to miss because it felt like an improvement.
Someone else got better
A competitor published something stronger, or three did. Your page didn't get worse; the bar moved.
Google changed its mind
Updates reshuffle what a search rewards. Sometimes the page still deserves to rank and the query no longer means what it did.
You're competing with yourself
Another of your own pages started ranking for the same search and split the strength between them.
Nothing is wrong at all
Demand is seasonal, or a one-off spike ended. Chasing a normal curve back up is the most expensive way to learn this.
A diagnosis needs a before
You can't explain what changed without knowing what it used to be. That's why every snapshot from the weekly website audit is kept forever, on both plans. The record is the thing that turns “traffic is down” into “this page lost its heading structure in the July redesign.”
When the culprit is your own site
One of the five causes is a page of yours competing with the page that dropped. That has its own tool, the Keyword Conflict Checker, and its own kind of fix. Both are included with Pro, which is the point of buying tools that know about each other.
Questions about drops
- Which plan includes the Doctor?
- Pro, at $99/month, which includes all fifteen tools and every tool that ships later. On Starter the tools are visible but locked.
- Will it bring my traffic back?
- Sometimes, and we won't pretend otherwise. Some drops are recoverable with a specific fix, some are a competitor simply doing better work, and some aren't drops at all once you look at the season. Knowing which of those you're in is worth the subscription on its own, because it tells you whether to spend the afternoon or let it go.
- How is this different from just looking at my analytics?
- Analytics tells you a page is down. That's the easy half. The hard half is why, which means comparing what the page looked like before against what it looks like now, what else of yours competes with it, and what changed around it. That's a diagnosis, not a chart.
- Do I need history for this to work?
- History is what makes any of it answerable, which is why every audit snapshot is kept forever on both plans. A page that dropped last month is far easier to explain when something recorded what it looked like the month before.
